Bãi Sau Beach at 5:47am. Usually not all of the people on the beach are beach goers...some of them are career "scavengers" who walked around to find loose jewelry burried in the sand. They have tools to scoop up sand and filter out all debris contained within through a large net-scoop. Who knows what may turn up in the next scoop. :)
  • Also, I was a first-hand witness to the benefits of scavenging loose jewelry on the beach myself. Accidentally, here was one time that I was swimming and playing in the water, I stepped on something which caused a real sharp pain right under my bare feet. The water was chest-deep. I was really worried that a piece of broken bottle may have cut me seriously...So, I was determined to find out. I took a full breath and dove right down to the spot where I felt the object....it turned out to be a wrist watch. Score!

  • The watch was still alive and ticking. Cool. So I showed it to my brother and a few locals there. To the locals...that was really a good find regardless of how cheap the watch is. I gave it to my Mom to wear as it appeared to be a lady's watch. Guess what? It was valued at most $6 USD by the local watch shops. However, It was still a really good find since the locals must work so hard to earn a meager $2 USD a day. :(
