This photo was taken while I was on a local ferry going to Phủ Thờ from Thanh Bình, Đồng Tháp. I really don't know where I was if you ask me...my Dad was my personal tour guide otherwise I would be totally lost. :) In the photo you see a "high-speed" boat. They are called "Tac' Ráng". This is a "sport" type equivalent if you can make a rough comparison with most of the other boats around the rivers. This type can run much faster than typical type because it is powered usually by a stronger engine...I saw some equiped with a V6 motor from some salvaged car. And most of them can be seen with a 4-cylinder or other types of strong engines. For the typical small boats with that size or smaller, they are usually equiped with something called "May Cô-Le" ??? from French terms...that type of engine is very small...like a 1-cylinder/2-stroke engines. And that that type of engine can be recognized very easily even from far away because they got a loud exhaust...:) I don't like to get close to them because the noise is unbearable! And the locals like them since they can make a whole lot of uses with a single small engine like pump water in the rice fields and ponds, power big and small boats, power a small sawmill and even power home made vehicles! I've seen much more uses.
